The Smell of a Fire

So today I was enjoying some relaxation after a walk along the beach. The fire was lit and I was sipping on a cup of bergamot tea. The aroma of the citrus and black tea was refreshing. It was the perfect mingling between late afternoon and evening. It was close to 18:00 and already it was almost dark. One of my children walked past the fireplace and as he did so he brought with him a waft of the wood logs that were burning. The fat spruce logs, not as dry as last years seasoned pine, were smouldering a little. Like an incense it was, the spruce. The delicate smoke wafted into my space and in the next breath I inhaled something entirely magical. I could smell bergamot and wood smoke together. In that brief moment was created a perfume note of time... feeling inspired...
