Why Natural Beauty

PDFPrintE-mail

Mother NatureHave you ever wondered why the world suddenly began to favour natural bath and beauty products over products containing synthetic chemicals? It wasn't actually a sudden change but rather a slow progression. If it was a sudden over-night thing it might have been a sign that the change was just a fad soon to die out. The fact that the change happened slowly over the last 20 years or so indicates that something bigger and more important has been happening.

Around the 1960's the hippy culture began. Hippies were known for being into vegetarian foods like brown rice and lentils and also for not washing much and for wearing natural cotton clothing and long sheepskin coats and patchouli oil. After a while another change started taking place, people began to find out that the chemicals in processed foods were unhealthy and that meant that everyone became more concerned about what they ate and drank. People began to read the labels and books were published listing the E numbers and what they meant and what sorts of side effects they had.

Over they next couple of decades, the words organic and natural became buzz words, hip words that were, and still are, associated with healthy, trendy and educated.

After a while people started finding out that chemicals in hair and skin products can be damaging to health. So it became law to list the ingredients on our cleaning products, skin products and to a lesser extent perfumes.

Once people started reading and finding out that certain chemicals were to be avoided at all costs, natural beauty products became sought after. Now it's easy to find beauty products that are free from chemical additives. The problem nowadays is wading through the piles of beauty products that are out there and finding a brand that we love, that works and that we can trust.

Another discovery in the last 10 years is that oestrogen like molecules can leech from plastic containers into our products. It is also true that bath and beauty products produce mountains of plastic waste, plastic waste can be recycled but that in itself is damaging to our delicate and precious natural environment.

White Witch® works very hard to bring you beauty products that are by and large unprocessed and are wrapped in entirely biodegradable materials. It was no easy task coming up with a way to make and pack our products without using plastic containers. The beauty of the White Witch® brand is, because they are all free of water they don't need preservatives or emulsifiers or plastic and they are light weight to ship.

We hope that everyone follows in our footsteps because White Witch® just want what's best for Mother Nature.
