We are often asked the question "why did we choose the name White Witch?"

When White Witch founder, Ruth Ruane was a young girl. She had hair down to her knees. One day she wore it to school without braiding it and was teased by the other girls. They called her a witch. When she went home she cried to her mother. Her mother told her that the girls at school were wrong to think that all witches are ugly and have warty noses and pointy hats. She told her that there are white witches and that they are very beautiful and do good things for people and the earth. Ruth's mother then said to her "Ruth, you are a White Witch".

In the October of 2005 Ruth was nursing her 7th child who had very dry skin. There was a big sack of organic fine oatmeal left over after a cookie mix business had failed to come to fruition. Ruth remembered that oatmeal is one of nature's most gentle and effective skin cleansers. Ruth began to formulate an oatmeal baby bath wash. She wanted to make a baby bath for her daughter's dry skin and oatmeal is recommended for all dry skin conditions.

Ruth didn't want to make products that she would have to package in plastic as there was already too many of those on the market as it was. She wanted to make a line of products that would give back to the earth instead of taking away. She came up with ideas for packaging that would only use paper or biodegradable cellophane. The products she developed had to be dry so that they could be packaged in this way.

Almost every ingredient White Witch uses is organic and every ingredient is totally natural. The only processing that the herbs and other ingredients used in White Witch natural beauty products go through is drying and grinding. That's it! White Witch sells all of the ingredients and raw materials to people who want to make their own natural personal care products themselves.

White Witch all natural organic personal care products are the only products on the market that give back to the earth. The are kind to your skin and to your health and when you are finished with them they can be composted, packaging and all. This means that instead of taking energy to recycle the packaging everything biodegrades quickly into the soil and feeds the plants and the insects in the soil.

Now White Witch carries raw materials for the professional natural perfumer and for the novice who has only become interested in natural perfumery.
